Rediscover the wild at Mhara River Bush Camp

Discover the magic of Mhara

For centuries, Mhara has remained untouched: a secluded corner of the African bush disturbed only by the flora and fauna that call it home. We began developing the camp with one core aim – to make every effort to leave as little mark on the environment whilst opening it up for others to enjoy its unrivaled beauty.

With just 6 luxury tents available, and architecture that carefully blends into and works with the natural geography of the landscape, our offering invites you to discover the true majesty of the Zambezi Valley, as it was in wild ages past.

Testimonials

  • "I highly recommend Mhara River Camp. My son just got back yesterday. He cannot stop talking about the scenery and the staff going the extra mile to make you feel at home. Thank you, Mhara!"

    Lea Ferreira

  • "Our group's inaugural stay at Mhara River Bush Camp was nothing short of sensational. Not only are you greeted with the most awe-inspiring view from the dining deck, but especially for birders, waking up to the display calls of the highly sought-after African Pitta, calling from the thick riverine forest immediately adjacent to the camp is hard to beat. This camp is set in productive mixed woodlands, and is home to many of the regions more special birds, including Lillian’s Lovebird, African Broadbill, Livingstone’s Flycatcher and Red-throated Twinspot. Aside from the excellent birds and birding, the camp is also in a prime game-viewing area, and the resident pride of Lions were almost a daily addition. I can hardly think of a better place to combine quality birding, with a relaxing bush experience!"

Dylan Vasapolli – Tour Leader, Birding Ecotours

  • "We had a fantastic trip to Mhara. Jim was really great and everyone really enjoyed it. Looking forward to being back next year!"
